Free Medical & Eye Camp at Kallakorai Village – 1st March 2025
The Dr. P C Thomas Foundation, in collaboration with the Good shepherd international school hospital and the Eye Foundation, Ooty, organized a free medical and eye camp on 1st March 2025 at Kallakorai Village. The camp provided a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including general health check-ups, Pap Smear tests, eye screenings, medical investigations, and professional medical guidance. A total of 81 individuals registered for the camp, benefiting from the expertise of a dedicated team comprising five doctors, four nurses, paramedical staff, and technicians.
As part of the camp, thorough physical examinations and essential diagnostic tests were conducted by PCTF. The Eye Foundation identified 29 cases requiring further attention. Additionally, 64 free blood tests were carried out to screen for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, myalgia, fever, anemia, and jaundice. Patients requiring continued care were referred to the Palada Primary Health Centre (PHC) for follow-ups. Free medication and nutraceuticals were also distributed. Furthermore, 11 women underwent Pap Smear tests for cervical cancer screening.
The initiative was met with overwhelming appreciation from the residents of Kallakorai Village and neighboring communities. The collaborative efforts of healthcare professionals, volunteers, and support staff ensured the smooth and effective delivery of essential medical services to those in need.
This medical camp was not only a significant step toward providing healthcare access to the local population but also helped identify critical health concerns within the community. The findings emphasize the importance of continued health awareness, routine medical check-ups, and targeted interventions to manage chronic illnesses and promote overall well-being.
