A free medical camp with general health and eye checkup, screening and investigations and medical guidance was organized on 4th May 2024 at Hosati Village by PCTF in collaboration with BS hospital and eye foundation, Ooty. The team included four doctors, five nurses, paramedical staff and technicians. The village head presented a shawl to Dr. Ashok Prasad (PCTF trustee) as a token of gratitude. BS hospital team explained about the various health issues which can be treated free of cost under under the CM free health scheme. Many patients were directed to BS hospital for free surgery/mammogram etc.
Physical examination along with free relevant investigations were provided by PCTF. Eye foundation detected 57 eye issues out of total 116 patients examined. 10 cataracts ,4 pterygium, 3 retinopathy and rest were refractive errors. Eye-cards were provided to them for free follow-up in Eye foundation,Ooty.
67 free blood tests were conducted for ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, myalgia, fever, anemia, jaundice, etc. Patients were referred to Palada PHC for follow-ups.
Free medications like paracetamol, multivitamins, calcium, antacids, etc. were dispensed.
20 unidentified hyperglycemic and hypertensive cases were detected and specific advice and guidance was provided.
The camp was successfully organized by the GSIS team. 10. students participated in the camp and coordinated smooth flow of patients. This experience was a great opportunity to help the remote isolated villages who do not have access to free healthcare and screening. It was also a fruitful endeavor to broaden our minds and perspectives and a reminder that there is always something to do to help our community.Age Index (in years)
